The second graders in our school district do a Flat Stanley project every year. This year it was Sadie’s turn.

We took him on Spring Break with us, like we did when it was CeCe’s turn (for Carissa, we sent Flat Stanley to visit the Powells in Germany). The trip was a little lower key than our trip to Colorado, but I think he still had a good time. We went to visit our cabin and then spent some time looking around northern Alabama, finishing up with a visit to see Sadie’s Great-great-Aunt Edwina on her birthday.

Sadie really enjoyed it. We took along a laptop and she journaled the events of the trip every day and came out the other end with a nice looking PowerPoint presentation. Over the next few days, we’ll post her presentation.

For school this year, I had to make an interactive map and timeline about the time leading up to the American Revolution.

Mommy helped me design it, and we decided to make a spiral for the timeline and use scrapbooking paper for the background.

My teacher really liked it. She said, “You know I’m going to have to keep this, right?”

Here is my timeline:

OK, so I know Celia’s birthday was 2 months ago, but Sandi does all of the editing work on the pictures she takes on her own computer, and sometimes it takes a while before I remember to copy the pictures over to our official family archive.

Two years ago, when Sandi did Carissa’s pictures, it was an all-day event. Sandi knew exactly what she wanted, but it took a long time and several location changes to get just the right shot. So Sandi warned CeCe that her 10th birthday pictures might be kind of an ordeal, but they both got lucky. They set up the balloons and 39 photos later, Sandi had the shot she wanted in hand. The whole shoot probably lasted less than an hour, including the setup.

Sandi even got a fun shot of CeCe that she wasn’t expecting:
