If you are not one of Carissa’s grandparents, then you can probably skip this message…
It has been a while since we have posted any of Carissa’s handiwork, and this seemed like a good time. She has definitely moved out of her abstract phase, and has moved into her realism stage. Here’s the first example:
OK, maybe the realism is a little skewed, but it’s a start! According to the artist, this is a picture of “a bird, and a nest in a tree, and a bunch of eggs.” The picture even has a blue sky.
One of the dangers of growing up in the modern world is that your head is filled with licensed characters. I hope Viacom doesn’t sue us because we posted this picture. For the uninitiated, this is a picture of Dora the Explorer and her friend, Boots the monkey. Dora and Boots have a few more fingers than most primates, but Mommy and Carissa have had a discussion about this, and the artist has made a special effort since then to draw people with the right number of fingers (even if they are still a little long).
Here is our final exhibit. This is a picture of Leela, a character in the cartoon Futurama. Leela actually has only one eye and purple hair in the cartoon, so this is still a realistic image, even if it is copied from an unrealistic image. The colorful dress and blouse are artistic additions by Carissa.
